An inspiring concert summer
(July 12th to August 19th)
Experiencing music of different genres, in one of the world’s most beautiful cultural landscapes:
In the upcoming summer, the Salzkammergut Festival Gmunden offers several opportunities to experience excellent and inspiring concerts.
They are musical ambassadors of Austria: After a successful performance last summer, the orchestra of the Viennese Philharmonic’s summer academy presents works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johannes Brahms on July 25th.
Another classical highlight of this summer is the chamber concert of the legendary Barodin quartet, the “Russian grandmasters of the quartet world”. On July 27th the world-renowned ensemble presents works by Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Hugo Wolf and Dmitri Schostakowitsch.
Fado is also on the programme: Cristina Branco is one of Portugal’s characterising voices and has for years been known as one of the leading interpreters of the modern “new Fado”. On July 29th you can expect an atmospheric evening in the historic ambience of the municipal theatre in Gmunden.
On August 14th, the ensemble Philharmonics Five – consisting of Viennese Philharmonic’s musicians – plays a crossover-concert with works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, John Williams with film music from Harry Potter, Ocean´s Eleven, Mission Impossible and many more.
Friends of jazz can look forward to a concert with the repeatedly rewarded jazz-pianist David Helbock, who is attracting attention internationally with his non-conformist trio. He presents his new programme on August 18th.
Be inspired, enjoy the summer of music in the Salzkammergut!
I look forward to your visit.
